The owners of the house are parents of three children who eventually felt like the time had come to redesign their living room. Their sons had grown up and were no longer “destroying” things in the house – as the parents put it. I changed everything except for the floor. I refreshed the walls with new painting and design wallpaper and I went for a brand new seating arrangement. The storage cabinets were made according to my plans.

Have you noticed that a chimney is running through the wall? I took this chimney as an opportunity and turned it into an asset: as you can see now it integrates into the shelving system perfectly. There is another trick in the room which might remain hidden: the dresser can be transformed to a computer desk. I designed a suspended ceiling with star-shaped recessed lighting, which is complemented by a LED strip running on the wall.

To fit the oak furniture, I chose dark brown and grey upholstery, white sheet curtains and beige wallpaper. Nevertheless, the rather neutral space comes to life with the greenness created by the wonderful houseplants.
